Andreas Kusel

Genealogy Book

A quest on the Christian Kusel ancestry began back in the late1970s and early 1980s by Pam Kusel, Marge Kusel, Merle & Virginia Borkowski, Gloria Schmidt and many many other descendants of Christian.

Kusel is only one very small part of your origins but it is a part of your origins that without it you wouldn't have been born.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s I began following up on the work already done by the above Kusel ancestry researchers.

In 1996 I logged onto the Internet for the first time.

The Internet is the most wonderful tool for searching for your roots.

I found the addresses and phone numbers of many Kusel relatives that we only had just the names for.

Before I went to Germany in 1997 I posted a message on a German Genealogy Newsgroup and a wonderful German citizen (Max Gschneidinger of Munich) responded to me by E-Mail.

We corresponded back and forth and I asked Max if he would look up some phone numbers of Kusels in the northern part of Germany where we believed Christian Kusel to have come from.

Max not only found phone numbers for me he also took the time to call quite a few of them.

Max also found out that there was a Mary Kusel from Salt Lake City, Utah USA that had visited this same area in Germany twice in the 70s & 80s.

I found Mary Kusel's phone number on the Internet and called her. Mary attended the Kusel reunion in 1998 and this summer (1999) she went back to Germany and found the detailed clues we needed to confirm that Andreas Kusel was the grandfather of Christian Kusel. We now know exactly where they lived. Click ---> Andreas to see the details.

So now I've brought you up to the year 2000 and what is next on the plans.

Below are the links to the 6 main children of Christian Kusel who we will now call Friedrich George Christian Kusel and his wife Dorathea who we will now call Catharina Maria Dorothea (Meinecke) Kusel.

Catharina Friedrich

The children are Christian Jr, Wilhelm, Wilhelmina, August, Ida & Herman.

Please click on your tree and read what is needed to complete the Andreas Kusel ancestry book.

Friedrich George Christian Kusel (10/30/1819 - 4/10/1894) along with his wife Catharina Maria Dorothea (Meinecke) Kusel (6/1/1825 -4/27/1875) and their children Christian Heinrich Johann Kusel and Wilhelm Friedrich Joachim Kusel came over from Germany (which was Prussia at that time) in 1854.
A third child, Wilhelmina Carolina Maria Kusel (11/26/1853) died but we don't know where. They came from a town near Lenzen, Prussia and settled in Davenport, Iowa.
August, Ida and Herman were born in the USA. There was possibly 1 other child (Emily 1858)
