Vernon L. Wolfe, 60, 1250 E. Grand Avenue, died Friday evening, May 27, 1977, at St. Michael's Hospital, Stevens Point, after an apparent heart seizure at Asbury Acres.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at United Methodist Church, the Rev Glen Siferd officiating with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Nekoosa, Wisconsin.
Mr. Wolfe was born December 5, 1916, in Manning, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and Margareta (Lebeck-Fry) Wolfe. The family moved to Manning when Vernon was a youth and he received his education in the Manning Schools.
He married Ruth Henderson August 4, 1946, in Wisconsin Rapids. He lived in Central Wisconsin for the past 25 years and was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. Biron Division, since 1951 and since last September has been a night watchman at Consoweld Corporation.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge No. 91, of which he was a past Noble Grand, a member of Riverside Rebecca Lodge 12, the Disabled American Veterans, and served in World War II with the Army in the Pacific Theatre.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Lawrence H., Baraboo; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Fitz, Farmington, New Mexico; one brother, Melvin, Manning, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Louise McClain, Tucson, Arizona; one step-sister, Mrs. Lucretia Whitmore, Des Moines, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Wilkinson Chapel from 2 p.m. Tuesday and at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday. An> Odd Fellows service will be at the Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be designated to United Methodist Church.
