Carl O. Weifenbach, 66, 518 Ninth St., died Sunday, June 3, 1974, in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa. Pastor Mark Smeltzer will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Mapleton with military graveside rites conducted by Loren Hollister Post 496, American Legion. The prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Mr. Weifenbach was born October 17, 1917, at Ewing, Nebraska, and came to Mapleton as a child with his parents.

He married Helen Driscoll August 23, 1938, at Danbury, Iowa. They lived in Mapleton until 1970 when they moved to California. They returned to Iowa and lived in Anthon, Des Moines, and the last two years at Sioux City. He was a carpenter having worked for Haubrich Construction in Mapleton for many years and also for Green Bay Lumber Co.

Mr. Weifenbach served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Randy of Modesto, California; Richard of Hinsdale, Illinois; Daniel of South Sioux City, Iowa; Wendel of Mesa, Arizona; and Roger of Reno, Nevada; six daughters: Mrs. John (Sandra) Kidd of West Covina, California; Mrs. Richard (Carmen) Mead of Yucaipa, California; Mrs. Pamela Palmer of Anthon, Iowa; Mrs. Sherri Hallmark and Mrs. John (Terri) Faux, both of Des Moines, Iowa; and Miss Yolanda of Sioux City, Iowa; three brothers, Alfred of Little Sioux, Iowa; Henry of Mapleton, Iowa; and George of Gunnison, Colorado; four sisters, Mrs. Freida Kurth of Mapleton, Iowa; Mrs. Louise Ernest and Mrs. Herman (Anna) Fick, both of Schleswig, Iowa; and Mrs. Robert (Elma) Staatz of Green Falls, Montana; 19 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Note for historical purposes - these Weifenbach children attended Manning, Iowa, Schools but none of them graduated here: Carmen, Carl, Pamela, Wendell, Richard, Sherry, Daniel, and Randy.

Helen's mother, Irene, married her second husband, John Jacoby, in Manning in 1957.
