Following the footsteps of his father is the history of Warren Petersen, 36, partner in the operation of Petersen's Garage. A native of Manning, Warren was graduated from high school here and spent two years at Iowa State University. During World War II, he spent two years in the navy and returned to enter business with his father, Fred Petersen, who had operated a garage here since 1921. In September 1957, Warren and Jimmy Albert formed a partnership in acquiring full interest in the business. Warren and his wife, Jean, have two children, Jeffrey 10, and Sherry 4. They belong to the Methodist church. |
Warren Leon Petersen Manning Monitor June 8, 1995 A military graveside service for Warren Leon Petersen will be held Thursday, June 15, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. at the Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa. Warren Leon Petersen, son of Frederick and Elsie Gehrman Petersen, was born November 19, 1923, at Manning, Iowa. He attended schools in Manning, graduating from Manning High School in 1941, after which he attended Iowa State College in Ames. Warren entered the United States Navy in July of 1944. He served on several vessels as an electrical technician. He received his honorable discharge on June 9, 1946. On October 17, 1948, Warren was united in marriage with Jean Jensen at Manning. Two children, Jeff and Sherry, were born to this union. They lived in Manning a short time before moving to California, eventually making their home in Sebastopol. During this time Warren was an auto mechanic. Jean died in 1983. On May 21, 1985, Warren was united in marriage with Ruth Hauth Quistgard at Logan Schoals, Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Since 1986, they have made their home in Burney, California, where he enjoyed his retirement. Warren was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Manning. Besides his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gus Jensen and a son-in-law, Bill Alderman. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Burney, California; his sons: Jeff Petersen of Santa Rosa, California; Mitchell Quistgard of Corona, California; and Kris Quistgard of Oak View, California; his daughters: Sherry Petersen of Sebastopol, California, and Terri Minnard of San Bruno, California; 7 grand-children and 6 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
