ARRIVE SAFELY

Relatives of Elmer Mueller and Bill Volquartsen have received notice from the government that they had reached their overseas destinations safely. The boys have been together since leaving Manning. They are in the infantry and had been stationed at New Orleans, Louisiana.


WILLIAM O. VOLQUARTSEN

William O. "Bill" Volquartsen, 58, of Manning died Tuesday, January 16, 1979, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Omaha. He had been in failing health for one year.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with Rev. Joel Wright of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Manning Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Mr. Volquartsen, the son of Bernard and Anna (Neethan) Volquartsen was born February 5, 1920, at Dow City. He moved to Manning where he attended school. He worked at the Manning Creamery until 1942 when he entered military service. He served three years in South America.

Mr. Volquartsen married Hazel Gessmann, January 14, 1945. He worked for several years at the Manning Creamery after his discharge and also worked as a carpenter. He was employed for 10 years at MJM Enterprises Inc.

He was a member of the VFW Post No. 3517.

Survivors include his wife. Hazel: three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Dianna) Kastner of Charter Oak, Mrs. John (Darlene) Rasmussen of Manilla, and Mrs. Rex (Doris) Sebeniecher of Stanton; eight grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Hammer, Mrs. Emma Cramer and Mrs. Ann Jansen, all of Manning: three brothers, Henry of Arion, Carl of Gresham, Oregon, and Paul of Manning.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.


William & Hazel are buried in the Manning Cemetery.
