Ensign Vinton B. Paulsen, USNR, age 28, of Manning, will graduate from the Naval Reserve Officers Indoctrination School after completion of 60 days training in seamanship, navigation, ordnance and communications, The Eleventh Naval District announced today.
Designed to acquaint newly appointed officers with every possible element in Navy life, the school, under the command of Capt. W. E. Cheadle, USN (Ret.), specializes in visual training, and teaching the student officers naval subjects by actual practice in addition to studying primary text books.

Paulson, a former Airline Passenger Agent at Omaha, Nebr., attended the University of Iowa, receiving the B.S.C. degree in June, 1941.
He is the son of Mrs. Anna Paulsen of Manning and is married to the former Gladys Kiplin of Denver, Colo.


VINTON B. PAULSEN

Vinton B. Paulsen, 77, of Clearwater, Florida, died Tuesday, January 26, 1993, at Mease Hospital Countryside, Safety Harbor, Florida.

He was born in Manning, Iowa, June 8, 1915, son of Adolph and Anna (Klindt) Paulsen, and came here in 1991 from Illinois. He worked as a freight manager for United Airlines.

He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, and a member of the United Airlines 100,000 Mile Club, and Kamaaina Club.

He was married to Gladys Ione Kiplin (August 20, 1912 - July 1982).

Survivors include a son, Thomas K., Clearwater; a sister, Bernice Nielsen, Manning; and three grandchildren, Michael Paulsen, Katie Paulsen, and Erin Paulsen, all of Clearwater.

Moss-Feaster Funeral Homes, Dunedin Chapel, Clearwater, Florida, in charge of services.

One son, Michael Jon Paulsen, born in Boston, Massachusetts, preceded his parents in death (May 28, 1944 - 1964). Michael was buried May 2, 1964, at Oak Ridge Cemetery Hinsdale, Illinois, and then reinterred on July 26, 1990, to Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
