Trebor A. Merriman

Trebor joined the U.S. Air Force July 27, 1992, at Des Moines Iowa. He attended Basic Training at Lackland AFB, Texas. Trebor was then sent to Chanute AFB, Illinois, for Tech School to become a Vehicle Mechanic. His first Permanent Duty Station was Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. He had a tour to Saudi Arabia during this time.

In 1998 he was assigned back to Lackland AFB. On Friday December 10, 1999, while in route to Kuwait for a ninety day remote duty employment he was traveling on a C-130 military transport plane. Upon approach to Ahmed Al Jaber US AFB, in adverse weather conditions, the landing gear hit a guy wire pushing the gear inside the cargo area. The plane aborted the landing and did a crash landing at Kuwait City Airport where they could foam the runway. Three airmen were killed and twelve injured. Trebor received injuries and was hospitalized for a short time. Trebor was then sent to South Korea for a year. He was then stationed back in Alaska in 2002.

In 2005 Trebor was stationed at Offutt AFB, Omaha until the unit he was in dissolved. He was then sent to Holloman AFB, New Mexico, and was assigned to the Aerospace Shuttle Recovery Team at the White Sands Station.
Trebor is now stationed at Cannon AFB, New Mexico, where he continues tours in the Middle East. At present he is in Iraq and plans to retire in July 2012.
During his time in service Trebor attained the rank of Technical Sergeant.
