Mr. Sievertsen, who died Wednesday morning at the Veterans' Hospital in Omaha, had lived the last five years at Council Bluffs; prior to that he farmed near Manilla.
He was born February 21, 1919, in Iowa Township, Crawford County, the son of Alvena Schwieso and Robert Sievertsen. He attended country school and the Manilla schools before serving in World War II.
He and Virginia Olberding were married in 1997. His wife, three children, Allen, John, and Marilyn; his parents, and three brothers, Gordon of Defiance, Iowa, Amos of Portland, Oregon; and Wesley of Davenport, survive.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts at Manning.
Pallbearers will be Earl Schwieso, Harold Schwieso, Wilbert Schwieso, Edward Schwieso, Larry Sievertsen, and Gene Sievertsen.
