Stanley C. Nissen

Cremation has taken place for Stanley C. Nissen, 76, of Las Cruces, New Mexico. A memorial service honoring his life will take place at a later date.

Stanley C. Nissen, son of Charles and Viola (Schwartz) Nissen, was born July 20, 1930, in Manning, Iowa, where he graduated from high school in 1948. He served his country in the United States Navy and Air Force, where he was able to travel all over the world. After 25 years of dedicated and honorable service in the USAF he retired at Holloman Air Force Base. Stanley then worked for ten years with Civil Service at White Sands Missile Range. He and his wife Mildred moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1986 from Alamogordo, New Mexico. Stanley and Mildred raised their six children and when their daughter Kathy became ill they took in their two granddaughters Jessica and Britney. Britney was still residing with them at the time of his death. Stanley was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Stanley died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at his home in Las Cruces.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Kathleen Bond, a brother Allen Nissen, and sister Lois Tegels.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Nissen of the family home, his four daughters, Pam Reichert and husband Rick of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Joretta Wilson and husband Ross of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; Linda Miller and husband Russel of San Antonio, Texas; Diane Wedge and husband Dennis of Socorro, Texas; one son, Charles Nissen of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one brother, Ron Nissen and wife Donna of Kansas City, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
