At this point in time I have only 1 military picture and some basic information about Robert's service.

Richard and Robert Boell, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Boell, were inducted into the U.S. Army May 12, 1953.
They served during the Korean War and were discharged March 2, 1955.

Son of Paul & Helen (Baumhover) Boell, Robert was born March 17, 1933, at Carroll, Iowa.
He graduated from Manning, Iowa, High School in 1952. He had three brothers: Louis, Kenneth, and twin Richard, and sister Ella Muenchow. He married Ruth Mulligan on January 10, 1956.


ROBERT WILLIAM BOELL
Robert William, son of Paul William and Helen Mary Baumhover Boell, was born March 17, 1933, at Carroll, Iowa. He was baptized on June 11, 1933, and was confirmed on October 24, 1955, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Manning. He was graduated from Manning High School in 1952 and served with the United States Army in Germany from 1953 to 1955.

On January 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Mulligan, at Zion Lutheran Church, Manning. They farmed near Aspinwall and near Westside for short periods of time and then settled on a farm northwest of Manilla. Robert discontinued farming this February and moved to Manilla due to failing health.

He died at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, on Monday, July 29, 1985, at the age of 52 years, 4 months, and 12 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Manilla, by four children Duane, and his wife, Melodie, of Manilla, Sylvia, Mrs. Wyatt Bandow, of Manilla, and by Dean and Sheila at home; by three grandsons, Randy and Robert Bandow and Jason Boell, by three brothers, Louis Boell, of Felton, Minnesota, Richard Boell, of Charter Oak, and Kenneth Boell, of Manilla, by one sister, Illa Mae, Mrs. John Muenchow, of Arcadia, by the following aunts and uncles, Elmer Boell, Edna Wenck, Florence Fricke, Albert Baumhover, Robert Baumhover, and Alice Starman.

Robert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3517, Manning.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 1, 1985, 10 30 a.m. Trinity Lutheran Church, Manilla.

Interment was made at the Nishnabotna Cemetery with Military Honors.

Pallbearers were Garnet Sievertsen, Ron Lohrmann, Byron Bornhoft, Don Ewoldt, Maurice Henkelman, and Clifford Joens with Military Honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3517, Manning, Emil Ewoldt Post 22 of the American Legion, Manning, and American Legion Post 132, Manilla.
