David L. Rauch was inducted into the U.S. Army February 8, 1972. Following basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, advanced infantry training at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and APC driver instruction at Fort Knox, Kentucky, he was assigned to the Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion 39th Infantry Division USAREUR, stationed at Baumholder, Germany. SP4 Rauch served as physical therapy specialist at the U.S. Army General Hospital at Landstuhl, Germany.
