Robert Kuhl, 59, of Denison, died Saturday, December 6, 1980, in a hospital at Denison of brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Byron Surface will officiate. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery under direction of the Maxwell Funeral Home of Denison. Military rites will be conducted by the Emil Ewoldt Post 22 American Legion, and VFW Post 3517, both of Manning.

Mr. Kuhl was born December 29, 1920, at Webster City, son of Leo and Jean (Davis) Kuhl. He graduated from Washta, Iowa, High School and attended Chillicothe Business College at Chillicothe, Missouri. He was an agent with the Illinois Central Railroad.

He served in the Navy during World War II as a radio operator on an ammunition ship. After the service, he returned to his Job with the railroad living in different cities. Before moving to Denison in 1956, he lived at Rockwell City.

He married Margaret (Kuhl) Kuhl June 21, 1956, at Manning. They made their home in Denison. He retired in 1973.

Mr. Kuhl was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison, Optimist Club, VFW, American Legion, Sylvian Lodge 507, AF&AM, Sylvian Chapter 207, Order of Eastern Star, Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple of Sioux City, Consistory Scottish rite, and Free Masonry of Sioux City.

Survivors include the widow; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Mericle of Omaha, three step-grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Jean Hubbard of Little Rock; one brother, William of Portland, Oregon, and one sister, Mrs. Charles (Caroline) Siebsen of Sioux Center.
