Robert Ewoldt


Robert was drafted into the U.S. Army on February 4, 1969. He served with the 2nd Armored Division "Hell on Wheels" in Vietnam and was later assigned to the 9th Infantry Division. Bob was in Vietnam from July 3, 1969, to July 4, 1970. He received the following medals: Vietnam Service w/2 Bronze Stars, Bronze Star, National Defense Service, Army Commendation and Sharp Shooter Badge. Sergeant (E-5) Ewoldt was discharged February 6, 1971.

BOB EWOLDT
Robert E. Ewoldt, son of Pearl and Truman Ewoldt, was born December 1, 1948, at Westside, Iowa.
He was drafted February 5, 1969, into the Army and was sent to Fort Ord, California, for basic training until April 5, 1969. Then he went to Fort Knox, Kentucky, for A.I.T. from April 15, 1969, through June 15, 1969.

He went to Vietnam July 4, 1969, to July 3, 1970, and was in the Armor Division as tank commander.

He was discharged at Fort Hood, Texas, on February 22, 1971.

He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, National Defense Service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, Army Commendation medal, Combat Infantryman badge, Sharpshooter (rifle), and Bronze Star medal.

After leaving the service in March 1971, he started work at Talbot and Carlson in Audubon for three years.
Then he went to work for United Telephone Company in March of 1971. He started out on the line crew and now is working as combination man. He has been with United Telephone for seven years now.
