Lt. Col. Robert A. Brus, stationed at Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, has been decorated with the Air Force Achievement Medal.
The medal is awarded to airmen for meritorious acts of courage, or other outstanding accomplishments.

Brus is a community relations division chief. He is the son of Arnold and Luella Brus of Manning. His wife, Judy, is the daughter of Hazel Bandow of the Manilla Manor. The colonel graduated in 1962 from Manning High School and in 1966 he received a bachelor's degree from Drake University, Des Moines.
He earned a master's degree in 1978 from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley.

Major Robert A. Brus, son of Mr. & Mrs. Arnold H. Brus of Rural Route 2, Manning, Iowa has been decorated with a second award of the Meritorious Service Medal here at Offutt Air Force Base.

The Meritorious Service Medal is awarded specifically for outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement or service to the United States.

The major is a 1962 graduate of Manning High School.
He received a bachelor's degree in 1966 from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, and was commissioned through the ROTC program.
Major Brus received a master's degree in 1978 from the university of Northern Colorado at Greeley.

His wife, Judy is the daughter of Hazel Bandow of Manilla, Iowa.


Robert Arnold Brus

On Monday, March 23, 2009, Robert Arnold Brus of Severn, Maryland, passed away in his home. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Brus, and their three loving sons: Matthew, Andrew, and Ryan. Robert is also survived by his five beloved grandsons: Steven, Hans, Jackson, Zachary, and Benjamin as well as three dear daughters-in-law: Sue, Robyn, and Ashley. Also surviving Robert are his siblings Wayne Brus and Georgia Musfeldt and their spouses, Joyce and Dale. Robert was born in Manning, Iowa, to Arnold and Luella Brus on December 20, 1942. He graduated with the Manning High School class of 1962.

Robert served his country proudly in U.S. Air Force for 28 years achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Robert was in the public affairs division of the Air Force which afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively and meet many new people which he enjoyed greatly. He also enjoyed woodworking, but most of all, spending time with his family.

A Memorial service for Robert Brus will be at noon Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Manning Heritage Park, with burial in the Manning City Cemetery.

A memorial service was also held Saturday, March 28, at Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
