David (son of George & Jean Ohde Pfoltner) was inducted into the U.S. Army on December 3, 1968. He trained for eight weeks at Ford Ord, California. He was assigned as Clerk Typist for the Training Input Branch in the Pentagon, Washington DC, and was housed at Fort Myer, Virginia. David achieved the rank of Specialist Five (equivalent to Master Sergeant in a combat unit). He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for outstanding performance (highest award for non-combat personnel). He was discharged on December 2, 1970.
