Edward Patton of Manning Promoted To Rank of Lt. Col.
Edward Patton, son of Mrs. D.W. Patton of Manning, and brother of Mrs. August
Warnke of Carroll, has been promoted from the rank of major to the rank of
Lieutenant Colonel. Colonel Patton is stationed at Camp Hale, Colorado.

Lt. Col. Patton Of Manning Has Recent Promotion
Mrs. Emma Patton has been advised of a promotion for her son, Lt. Col. Edward
Patton. Col. Patton has been appointed commanding officer of the dental
division at Camp Hale, Colorado. His staff comprises forty eight dentists and sixty-eight assistants.

Col. Edward Patton has received his discharge after live years and three months
service as a dental surgeon. He is the son of Mrs. Emma Patton of Manning. He
expects to continue his dental practice in Iowa City.

Dr. Edward Patton
Dr. Edward C. Patton, 66, of 1211 Ginter Avenue, died at Veterans Hospital this morning after a long illness. He was a doctor of dental surgery in Iowa City and Lone Tree until his retirement a few years ago.
Requiem high mass will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church, with burial in the dew section of St. Joseph's Cemetery. Graveside military services will be
conducted by the Iowa City American Legion Post.
The rosary will be said Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Donohue Mortuary, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday.
Dr. Patton was born August 24, 1901, at Manning, son of Dwight and Emma (Hagge) Patton. He attended Manning schools, and was graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1927.
He started to practice dentistry in Iowa City, and on November 24, 1927, was married to Agnes Mclnnerny.
During World War II, Dr. Patton served in the Army as a post dental surgeon at many bases in the United States. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Iowa City to practice dentistry.
He later practiced in Lone Tree until his retirement Dr. Patton was a member of St. Patrick's Church, the Elks Lodge, of which he served as exalted ruler in 1952, the American Legion Post 17, and Psi Omega dental fraternity.
He was first president of the Johnson County Reserve Officers Association, and a member and past president of the Johnson County Dental Association.
Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Krug of Iowa City; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. August (Alice) Warnke of Carroll; and one niece.
