M-Sgt. Orrin Welch, who has spent a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Welch, left October 13, 1954, for Shreveport, Louisiana, where he will be stationed. He had been in England since 1951.

Orrin Welch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Welch, went to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Monday night, from there he will go to Laramie, Wyoming, to attend the University of Wyoming, under an army school arrangement. Orrin graduated from Manning high school this spring and has been employed at the Manning Creamery.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Welch have received a letter from their son, S/Sgt. Orrin Welch, who, is stationed at Lakenheath Airport in England. He stated that he was in London during the coronation, and had an excellent view of the entire procession that day. During May, he toured Scotland, Ireland and Northern England.


In Memory of Orrin Sandford Welch
Visitation for Orrin Sanford Welch, 84, will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Hill Crest Funeral Home.

Mr. Welch, son of Benjamin and Abel (Dietz) Welch, was born March 26, 1924, in Manning, Iowa, and entered into rest May 29, 2012, in Quitman, Texas. He was a retired MSgt. with the U.S. Air Force, and lived in Bossier City for many years. Mr. Sanford loved deer and duck hunts, and he had many fond memories of his friends from the Air Force and his clients he was an accountant for.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Welch; brothers, Roland Welch and Merlin Welch, and sister, Dorothy Welch McCullough.

Survivors include his two children, Orrin Scott Welch and Renee Welch Richardson; grandchildren, Coy Bailey Richardson, Carly Booth Richardson, Heather Wright Conley, and Levi Jevhon James; brother-in-laws Billy Clyde Pilgreen, James Edward Pilgreen, and John Rodney Pilgreen.
