Newton Emery Weems


Newton Emery, son of Charley William and Rosa (Millet) Weems, entered the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and took his schooling at heavy duty equipment engineering school. He served from September 1942 to April 1945, in both the Pacific and Asiatic theaters.

Newton was born in Shelby County December 4, 1907, and died February 13, 1986, and is buried in Calico Rock, Arkansas.
He was the Brother of Earl, Charley Burl, Ralph, and Murace Eldon Weems.
Newton married Minnie Todd (1917-1972) - they had six children, and lived in Oklahoma.

Newton's parents were farmers in both Green and Shelby Counties in Iowa. His grandmother, Mildred Weems, lived with the family in her later years, until she died in 1919, when Newton was 12 years old. Newton was still living at home on the farm as a 23-year-old in the 1930 census for the Botna Village in Jefferson Township, Shelby County, Iowa.
