Norbert J. Sextro, 83, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Banner Del Web Hospital, Sun City West, Arizona.
Mass of the Christian Burial was Monday, May 11, at Prince of Peace Church, 14818 West Deer Valley Drive, Sun City, Arizona.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manning, Iowa.
Burial will be at National Memorial Cemetery, Phoenix, Arizona.

Norbert J. Sextro, 83, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Banner Del Web Hospital, Sun City West, Arizona. Mass of the Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Prince of Peace Church, 14818 West Deer Valley Drive, Sun City, Arizona.

A memorial mass will be held on May 16, 2015, at Sacred Heart Church, Manning, at 10:30 AM.

Burial will be at the National Memorial Cemetery, Phoenix, Arizona.

Norbert Joseph Sextro, son of John and Clara (Lechtenberg) Sextro, was born March 1, 1932, born on the home place by Manning, Iowa. He attended country school at Ewoldt No. 1 and graduated Manning high school, Manning, Iowa, in 1950. After graduation, he worked on a farm near Breda, and then Swift Company, Sioux City, Iowa.

Norb was drafted in the Army, May 4, 1953, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was discharged in 1955 as a Corporal. Norb worked in Manning to help build the Sacred Heart Church and helped with the neighborhood threshing.

Norb moved to St Louis, Missouri, and worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. He obtained an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University night school in St. Louis. Norb retired after working 30 years at Boeing. Norb purchased a 60 acre farm in Illinois where he built an A frame home.

Norb married Dora Tash on August 4, 1985. Dora had two children, Theodore & Harriet.

In 2000, Norb and Dora moved to Surprise, Arizona. In his spare time, Norb enjoyed hiking in the nearby mountains, lawn bowling, pickle ball, and tennis. Norb provided a driving service for people associated with the Catholic Outreach Center.

Norb is survived by his wife Dora, and step children Theodore Tash and Harriett Tash and her husband Eddie. Siblings, Leo Sextro of Manning, Marie Sextro of Carroll, and Leonard (Delores) Sextro of Manning, Warren & Rosemary Meier of Omaha, Nebraska, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, other relatives and friends.

Norb was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Edna Sextro, Maxine Meier, Herbert (Janet) Sextro, Helen (Joe) Lampe, Edward Sextro, Dorothy (Leon) Masching, and Ruth Vanderheiden.
