Manning Monitor article------ 1943

K. H. Mordhorst Sends Greetings
Received a letter recently from the American Legion, and want to thank them very much for their kindness.
"It sure is swell to receive the Manning Monitor. A person can keep up with the home town news. I am writing this in good health and hope it finds my friends back home all the same way.

It is the rainy season here now. The water was up to the running board on the cars, twice this last week.
"We graduate from here in six weeks as Aviation Machinists mates, 3-c Petty Officers.
From then on, we don't know.
"I wish to say Hello to all my friends back home."
K. H. Mordhorst, S 2-c, A. M., U.S.N.A.T.T.S., Memphis, Tenn.

Expresses Thanks for Paper
K. H. Mordhorst writes from Memphis, Tenn., thanking the Legion and the Monitor for the home town paper and adds, "it sure is swell to be able to read the home news every week." In the sunny south, he says, the grass is green and the flowers are in bloom.
He has about three months of Aviation Machinist training left and likes it fine.
His address is: K. H. Mordhorst, S 2-c (A.M.), Bar. 35, M 15, Sec. 6, Naval Training School, Aviation Maintenance, Memphis, Tenn.

K. H. Mordhorst Advances
K H. Mordhorst AMM 2c writes saying that he has been moving around considerable and that his Monitor reaches him rather late in catching up but very welcome.
Writing probably from somewhere in the far Pacific, he says that it has been raining quite a lot and that it is hot when the sun shines.

He advanced from 3c to AMM 2c about a month and a half ago. At present they are eating out of army mess gear and wearing Marine clothing----a little tough going.
In closing he thanks the Legion and the Monitor for the paper, and I says hello to his friends.

Karl Mordhorst Transferred
Jacksonville, Florida, June 19, 1943 Sirs:
Just to let you know of my change of address again. After completing the Aerial Gunnery School at Yellow Water we were transferred to Jacksonville, Florida.
I appreciate receiving the home town paper because it's good to know what's happening around the home town. In receiving the paper it makes it seem as if a person is at home.
I also want to say hello to all my friends back home.
K.H. Mordhorst.
