Three Killed in Manning Crash
A grinding, head-on collision between two cars near the crest of a hill claimed three lives near here Sunday evening.

Killed in the crash were Dennis Beck, 18, Manning, driver of one of the cars; Melvin L. Sinow, 36, Aspinwall, driver of the other car and Mrs. Amanda Sinow, 62, Aspinwall, his mother.

The three deaths raised the Carroll County highway fatality toll to six for 1970.

The accident happened at 6:15 p.m. on a county road one mile east and one and three-quarter mile south of Manning.

The Beck car was southbound and the Sinow car was northbound at the time of the crash.

Each vehicle was demolished by the force of the impact and the occupants were killed outright.

Following the impact, the Beck car skidded sideways and direction across the west lane in the north-south road. The Sinow car went off the roadway and came to a stop with the front end buried in the ditch on the east side of the road.

The accident was investigated by Highway Patrolman Dale Hanson, Carroll, and Deputy Sheriffs Roger O'Tool and Jack Hays, Carroll.

A ruling of accidental death was made by Dr. Roland B. Morrison, Carroll County Medical Examiner. The two drivers each suffered crushed chests and Mrs. Sinow suffered several head injuries.
