GLEN CHARLES MAHNKE
1948 - 1990
Funeral services for Glen Charles Mahnke were held Friday, March 8, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa with Pastor Robert Riggert officiating. Music was provided by Paula Weiss, organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Joseph Campbell, Loyd Dunn, James Campbell, Lenus Borkowski, Jeffrey Hoffmeier and Don Pfannkuch as casketbearers.

Military honors were provided by Emil Ewoldt Post 22 of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3517.

Glen, son of Herbert and Inez Stoelk Mahnke, was born June 5, 1948 at Manning, Iowa. He attended country schools and Manning Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1967. Glen furthered his education at Midwestern College in Denison and then Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa.

At the time of his graduation from college Glen joined the United States National Guard where he served a six-year commitment.

Glen taught elementary education in Denison for several years and for the past decade has taught elementary school in Dallas, Texas. He was honored by being chosen Teacher of the Year in Dallas. Glen died at Medical Cities Hospital in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, March 4, 1990 at the age of 41 years, 8 months, and 27 days.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; by the following aunts and uncles: Frank Stoelk, Ray and Gladys Mahnke, Alfred Mahnke, and Orville Stoelk.
Glen is survived by his parents, Herbert and Inez Mahnke, of Manning; by a sister, Joyce and her husband, John Campbell, of benison; by four brothers: Gene Mahnke and his wife, Susan, of Manilla; Richard Mahnke, of Dallas, Texas; Larry Mahnke, of Manning; and Randy Mahnke, of Carroll; and by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Glen Mahnke is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
