Martin Bogatzke

Jump school Fort Benning, Georgia 1986


Martin Bogatzke is the son of Myron and Wilma (Jackson) Bogatzke.
He graduated from Manning High School in 1986.
After graduation he joined the Army and took his Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina from January to April, 1986.
Martin then took the Advanced Individual Training course from April to July 1986 at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.
Then he went to Jump School at Fort Benning, Georgia and was stationed there from August 1986 to November 1988 with the Delta Company 197th Support Battalion and the 197th Infantry Brigade.

Next he was transferred to the Republic of Korea from November 1988 to January 1990 with the 61st Maintenance Company and the 227th Maintenance Battalion.
His next transfer took him to Fort Bragg, North Carolina on January 1990 with the Delta Company 782nd Maintenance Battalion 82nd Airborne Devision.
Then he was deployed to Saudi Arabia on August 8, 1990 to serve in Operation Desert Shield.
On February 24, 1991 he was part of the ground invasion of Iraq -- Operation Desert Storm.
Martin was re-deployed to Fort Bragg, North Carolina on March 23, 1991 and was Honorably Discharged on October 23, 1991 from the regular Army.

From October 23, 1991 to June 1993 Martin joined the Iowa Army National Guard at Camp Dodge, Iowa with the rank of Sergeant.

As specialist: Martin M. Bogatzke received the Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievment Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

As Sergeant: Martin M. Bogatzke was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
