Dallas L. Lile
Dallas LeRoy, son of Guy and Anna (Dreier) Lile, was born July 2, 1933, at Exira, Iowa. He attended school at Exira and graduated from Exira High School in 1951. In 1953 Dallas enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an aircraft mechanic in South Carolina and Bermuda during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge in 1957, he returned to Iowa and worked in the bus barn at Viola Center for the Audubon School District. It was at this time that Dallas was united in marriage with Marlene Jensen. Two children, Michell and Tony, were born to this union and the family made their home at Viola Center.

On July 24, 1970, Dallas was united in marriage with Carol Jean Spack, and also adopted her daughter Trudy. This marriage lasted 25 years. While living in Aspinwall, he worked at Wilmer Ehrichs Garage. In 1971 he owned and operated Lile's Repair in Manilla. In October of 1982, they moved into Manilla where they operated a cafe called The Filling Station and a bar called The Back Room until late 1989. In 1990 Dallas then started the It'll Do Lounge in Denison until he sold it in 1996. In 1992 while still operating the It'll Do Lounge, he and his son started Better Used Cars & Service in Manilla. In 1999 he operated the Manilla Bowl until 2000, when he became the current owner and operator of the It'll Do II in Denison. In 2002 he moved to Denison.

Dallas was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (life member), American Legion and the Association for the Advancement of Retired People. For several years in the 1980s and 1990s, he served on the Manilla City Council. Dallas enjoyed fishing and working on automobiles. He was noted for his profound generosity and honesty.

On Monday, January 3, 2005, Dallas died suddenly and unexpectedly at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. He was 71 years, 6 months, and 1 day of age. Dallas's final act of generosity was to give the gift of life through tissue donation.

Besides his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by three brothers: Vern, Richard and Darwin Lile and a sister Delma in infancy.

He is survived by his children: Michell Lile of Manilla; Anthony Lile and wife Gina of Manilla; Trudy and husband Aaron Rosenbaum of Grimes; three grandchildren: Lucas Lile; Dyllan and Wyatt Rosenbaum; one brother Walt Lile and his wife Mit of Fort Dodge; two sisters Delores Brannan of Coon Rapids and Donna Jean and husband Vernis Giermann of Kiron; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
