Two Graduates At Lackland AFB For 3 Months Basic
John Pratt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orin E. Pratt, and Lynn Rix, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rix, both graduates of Manning High School this spring, are now stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, with the 3704 training squadron, according to word received by parents of the enlistees.
The men will receive approximately three months basic training at Lackland, and after graduating they will have a ten-day furlough home. Following their return to duty they will be given an opportunity to enter technical school according to their choice and qualifications.

Lynn H. Rix, 17277176, same squadron as the former.
The Manning men entered service through the recruiting station at Denison, Sgt. Alex Gore, visiting here each Thursday noon for interviews.

Two Graduates To Army Air Forces
John Pratt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orin E. Pratt, and Lynn Rix, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rix, left Wednesday for Denison to enter service in the Army Air Forces. From Denison they go to Omaha for further physical exams and then to Texas where they will begin their training. Both are members of this year's high school graduation class.

LYNN RIX

Lynn Rix, 47, of Melrose Park, formerly of Manning, died Friday night, October 10, 1980, in a hospital at Joliet, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Melrose Park. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Survivors include six children, five grandchildren; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rix, Manning, and a sister Mrs. Elmer Daiker, Carroll.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Mr. Rix was an electrician and before his death was employed on a government nuclear project.
