Louis and Dewey Pfoltner Write
Now stationed at the U. S. Naval Air Training Center at Pensacola, Florida, Louis and Dewey Pfoltner write, thanking the Legion and Monitor for the paper while in Washington D.C., and send us a change of address.

They have been at Pensacola since the middle of August and have been attending Photo School, since the first of Sept. When they finish in January, they expect to be aerial photographers.
The boys send greetings to all the home town folks and to the men in the service. They both have been advanced to the rank of Sp (P) 2-c.


Louis Pfoltner

Louis D. Pfoltner, 83, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 31, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 3, at Faith Lutheran Church, 4805 West 67th Street, Prairie Village, Kansas, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Lou was born March 8, 1917, in Manning, Iowa, son of Herman and Louise (Henningsen) Pfoltner. He graduated from Manning High School in 1935, and attended Chillicothe Business College in Missouri. He worked for the Panama Canal in Washington, D.C. and served in the U.S. Navy, as a Photographer's Mate, 1st Class, in Italy during WWII.

He settled in Kansas City in 1945 and worked for the Veterans Administration. Before retiring in 1976, he was a field representative for the Social Security Administration for 35 years.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dolores Pfoltner, of the home; daughter, Kimberly Kirkwood and her husband, Scott, of Lenexa, Kansas; son, Dean Pfoltner and his wife, Kama, Overland Park, Kansas; son, Dale Pfoltner of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter, Kelly King and her husband, Scott, Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Andrea Kirkwood, Mitchell Kirkwood, Kayla Pfoltner, Grant Pfoltner, and Dustin King; a sister, Bernice Borkowski, Churdan, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Lou was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather and was loved by all.
