Jackie Lee (Jack) Borkowski, 81, passed away December 16, 2023, peacefully at his home after a nearly eight-year battle with cancer. There will be a celebration of life May 18, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Adams Celebration of Life in Owasa, Iowa. There will be a light lunch served. Jack was born December 15, 1942, in Botna, Iowa, to Harold "Jack" Borkowski and Evelyn (Weems) Borkowski. He grew up on the farm in Botna until he was 16, when he moved in with his Grandmother Mable Weems. After graduating from Manning High School in May of 1961 he stayed in Manning. Jack joined the US Army on January 3, 1962, where he served honorably until his discharge on December 31, 1964. During his military service, he was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Augsburg Germany.

Jack was united in marriage to Linda Sue Adams on September 10, 1966. They lived on a farm near Kirkman, Iowa, until 1972. Jack and Linda were divorced in 2000. From this marriage, his two sons Scott and Steve were born. They moved to Iowa Falls where Jack worked for General Gas as a serviceman. He then went to work for Iowa Electric until 1983, at which time he took his sideline business into his full time and only business, House Doctor Plumbing. He ran this business successfully into his 70s, until cancer forced him to retire. He was an avid hunter from an early age. Jack could be found hunting squirrel, pheasant, deer, quail, bear, buffalo, wild boar, and antelope. He was a long-time member of the Smokey Ridge Muzzleloaders. He also made two fishing trips to Alaska, catching Halibut, Ling Cod, Colorado for trout and Florida catching mackerel. He ate most everything he harvested. Jack also enjoyed working on his home, which he continued to do until his death. His other love was telling stories and jokes.

Jack is survived by his partner Karen Quinlan, sisters Karen (Kenny) Stueve of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Gwenda (Joel) Basham of Exira, Iowa, Marla Williams of Newton, Kansas, Juanette (Frank) Birk of Gridley, Kansas, Lori Borkowski of Manning, Iowa, sister-in-law Francene Borkowski of Papillion, Nebraska; sons Scott Borkowski and partner Daniella Johnson of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Steve (Melinda) Borkowski of Olympia Washington, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn, father Jack, step-mother Alta and brother Kenneth.
