JOSEPH J. MUHLBAUER

Funeral services for Joseph J. Muhlbauer were held Monday, July 3, 1989 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa.

Reverend Father Ralph Reinhart officiated the service with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.

Casketbearers were David Wendl, Lynn Nulle; Daryl Muhlbauer, Chris Muhlbauer, Jerome Muhlbauer, and Kenneth Muhlbauer.

Honorary casketbearers were Lester Genzen, Harold Schroeder, Lester Karsten, Jack Borkowski, Leslie Doyel, Wilbur Lamp and Roman Wittrock. Rosaries were held Sunday, July 2, 1989 at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Joseph, son of Charles and Mary Stoberl Muhlbauer, was born August 28, 1918 near Halbur, Iowa. He attended Halbur schools.

During World War II Joe worked at the Bell Aircraft factory in New York; at that time he joined the National Guard. Later Joe returned to Iowa to farm.

On June 29, 1948 Joe was united in marriage with Erna Frees. They farmed near Manning until 1978 when they moved to their present home in Manning. Joe was a member of Sacred Heart Parish: In his leisure time he enjoyed playing cards and traveling. He was also an avid fisherman.

Joe died unexpectedly Friday evening, June 30, 1989 at his home in Manning at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 2 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by three brothers: Anthony, Henry, and an infant brother, Joseph.

Joe is survived by his wife, Erna, of Manning; by three children: Mary and her husband, Mark Frederiksen, of Atlantic; Elizabeth and her husband, Allen Eckhoff of Beatrice, Nebraska; and Joleen and her husband, William Strosahl, of Omaha, Nebraska; by six grandchildren: Heather and Jon Frederiksen; Allen Joseph and Andrea Eckhoff; and Devon and Lauren Strosahl; by the following brothers and sisters: Charles Muhlbauer and his wife, Ann, of Halbur; Marie and her husband, Victor Wendl, of Carroll; Louis Muhlbauer and his wife, Phyllis, of Manilla; William Muhlbauer and his wife, Iola, of Manning; Roseanne and her husband, Wesley Nulle, of Manning; and Sophia and her husband, Wayne Kuhse, of Long Beach, California; by a sister-in-law, Laura Muhlbauer, of Arcadia; and by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.


Joseph Muhlbauer is buried in the Manning Catholic Cemetery.
