Military funeral rites for Vernon Hass, 27, of Manning will be in the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

Pastor George Eschenbacher of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.

Mr. Hass was found dead at the home of his mother, Mrs. William Hass, in Manning early Saturday morning, March 26, 1960.

Mr. Hass, son of the late William Hass and Emma (Dethlefsen) Hass, was born February 5, 1933, and grew up on a farm in Hayes Township. He attended rural schools, Hayes No. 5 and Hayes No. 6, and Manning Public Schools.

He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954, serving in Japan.

Following his discharge from the Marines, he worked as a farm laborer in the Manning area. Last fall, he was severely injured in a corn picker accident.

Vernon Hass is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
