Dear Mr. Rix and Staff:
I have neglected writing you boys for some time. Want you to know I've been receiving the Monitor every week and really appreciate it. Thanks a million!

Everything's fine here and going good. That includes the warm weather and liquid sunshine also.

Gilbert "Whitey" Fritz
Gilbert John "Whitey" Fritz, 92, of Bremerton, Washington, died Thursday, August 19, 2004, in Port Orchard.

He was born in Manning, Iowa, February 12, 1912, to Anna Fritz. He graduated from Manning High School in 1930.

During World War II, Mr. Fritz served in the Navy, achieving the rank of apprentice first class. He received the American Theatre Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He went on to work as a truck driver with Darigold for many years, then managed The Hearthstone Inn in Bremerton until his retirement.

He enjoyed bowling and sports.

His wife, Lucille Yvonne (Stillman) Fritz, preceded him in death in 1988.

He is survived by two sons, Martin L. Fritz, Sr. of Port Orchard, and Michael J. Fritz of Poulsbo; a daughter, Marcie Schroedel of Lake Chelan; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at 6485 Glenwood Road in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton.
