Gene F. Addison, 75, of Council Bluffs, passed away March 4, 2008, at his home.

Gene was born September 10, 1932, in Manning, Iowa, to the late Fern C. and Meta (Christensen) Addison. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Gene was a truck driver for 47 1/2 years and was the owner of Addison Trucking.

He retired in 1995. Gene was a member of Glendale Presbyterian Church, Teamsters Local #554, and lifetime member of the VFW Post #737.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Judy Kay Addison on November 3, 2007; brothers, Robert and William Addison.

Gene is survived by daughters, Jane Cole of Payne, Ohio, Sandra Overton and husband, Ray, of Honey Creek, Iowa, Robin Carmichael, of Council Bluffs; sons, Robert Addison and wife, Marlene, of Columbia City, Indiana, Barry Addison, of Council Bluffs, Christopher and Gary Addison, both of Omaha; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Mathisen and husband, Don, of Crescent, Iowa; brothers, Larry Addison and wife, Kathy, of Monroe City, Missouri, Mick Addison and wife, Patty, of Lanesboro, Iowa, Clark Addison, of California; mother-in-law, Leora "Cookie" Bensinger, of Bicknell, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Lois Addison, of Council Bluffs, Sandra Montgomery and husband, Jerry, of Bicknell; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family, Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service, Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary with Patrick Davis, Chaplain at SWI Hospice officiating. Interment Garner Township Cemetery with military rites tendered by VFW Post #737.

A lunch will follow at Glendale Presbyterian Church. The family will direct memorials.
