Robert was inducted into the Navy in August 1968. He trained in San Diego, California, and served as a Boiler Technician on the Destroyer U.S.S. Floyd B. Parks. He was on two tours with the 7th Fleet in the Philippines and Vietnam and was honorably discharged July 1972.
