Edmund Claussen

Born: March 22, 1929, Manning, IA
Edmund was born and educated in Manning, IA, through Ninth Grade, when his family
moved to Winterset, IA, to farm. His parents were Herman H. Claussen and Anna
Diederich Claussen. He completed school at Patterson H.S., Patterson, IA. He was drafted
in the Army in 1951, with basic training in Ft. Rucker, AL. His service duty took him to
Baumholder, Germany. He was a Rifleman and Company Clerk, 136th Infantry Regiment.
Upon returning from service he attended Iowa State University, receiving his B. S. Degree
in Agriculture Education in 1956.
There he met and married Kathleen Manning Claussen from Clinton, IA.
They had three children:
Steven E. Claussen, born 1957, Married Rhonda K. Alleman Reams Claussen, children: Shelly Reams, Daniel S. Claussen 1992, Benjamin J. Claussen, 1996
Ann M. Claussen, born 1961, married W. Randall Watler, children: Kristopher W. Watler, 1996, Sarah K. Watler, 2000
Paul J. Claussen, born 1965, married Trang Ngo Claussen, children: Alexander N. Claussen, 1996, William N. Claussen 1998, Vincent N. Claussen 2002.
Edmund taught and started the Agriculture Education program at Charter Oak, IA for 3 years. He then worked for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 22 years in Minneapolis, Dallas, Kansas City, Des Moines and Denver. He retired from Government work in 1981, and started a Food and Drug Consulting business, traveling worldwide. He retired to a farming business in Maxwell, IA
