Emil was an uncle to Roy Struve - Emil being much younger than his other siblings.

In 2012 I scanned the Manning Homemaker's Club scrapbook and in it was a military section with several Veteran pictures and items.

I have not been able to connect these Veterans to anyone living in the Manning area right now, and I also don't have any military or family information about them.

EMIL STRUVE
Emil Struve, 69, of Porterville, California, died Saturday morning, March 11, 1972, at Tulare, California. He was a former resident of this area.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Carl Sinning of Des Moines will officiate. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts.

Mr. Struve, son of Carsten and Margaretha (Joens) Struve, was born in Shelby County July 22, 1902. He attended schools near his rural home and in Manning, and worked on various farms in this area. In 1928, he moved to California, and for the last few years he lived at Porterville, where he was foreman of a fruit-packing crew.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Margaret) Hinze of Manning.

Preceding him in death were five brothers, Claus, George, John, Peter, and William; and five sisters, Mrs. Anna Hill, Mrs. Lillian Brandt, Katherine Struve, and two in infancy.


Emil Struve is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
