Staff Sergeant Donald Eugene Wiese

1957-58 American Legion Commander


Don Wiese, son of Mevis and Erma (Hays) Wiese, enlisted in the Air Force November 26, 1950. During his service he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas; Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas; Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi; Hamilton Air Force Base, San Rafael, California: and McClean Air Force Base, Sacramento, California.
He was a radar operator on B-29 and RC-121-C airplanes.
Don was discharged November 26, 1954.


Donald E. Wiese, born January 25, 1927, graduated MHS Class of 1945, and served in the Korean War.
Staff Sergeant Don Wiese married Marie Desiato of San Diego at Yuma, Arizona, on March 4, 1954.
He served as Commander of the American Legion post in Manning, died in Portland, October 29, 1992, and is buried in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon
His wife Marie Desiato was born March 7, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio.
They had a daughter, Karen Lee, born September 8, 1960, in Carroll, Iowa. She married Daniel Lee Porter, born May 1, 1958, in Pendleton, Oregon, in a ceremony held May 6, 1989, in Vancouver.
They had one son, Steven Daniel Porter, born December 8, 1991 in Vancouver, Washington.
