Delmas Schrum, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schrum, received his discharge from the navy at Minneapolis after two years of service.


DELMAS RUSSELL SCHRUM

Delmas R. Schrum, 65, of Atlantic, died Sunday, October 6, 1991, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. The Rev. Allen D. Hellwege of the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic will officiate.

Burial will be at the Manning Cemetery, Manning.

Visitation is Monday, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Military services will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post No. 22 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Mr. Schrum was born November 22, 1925, at Manning, a son of John and Emma (Heesch) Schrum. He attended Manning schools.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

On November 25, 1950, he married Jeanette Obermeier at the Little Brown Church of the Vale at Nashua.

Following their marriage, they farmed in Audubon County for 23 years. They moved to Atlantic in 1973 where Mr. Schrum was employed for 12 years at the American Beef Packers and the last five years at Henningsen Processing.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette of Atlantic; five sons, Darwin Schrum and his wife, Lavonne, of Muscatine; Darrell Schrum and his wife, Christy, of Wheaton, Illinois; Duane Schrum and his wife, Teresa, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Douglas Schrum of Atlantic; and David Schrum of Ames; one daughter, Doris Christensen and her husband, Gary, of Atlantic; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one sister, Helen Tiefenthaler of Halbur; and one sister-in-law, Darlene (Schrum) Cadwell of Manning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Elroy Schrum; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Schrum and one brother-in-law, Vernon Tiefenthaler.


Delmus Schrum is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
