Daryl Walter Dammann

Daryl Walter Dammann, 59, Salina, died Monday, June 26, 2006.
Mr. Dammann was born September 26, 1946, in Carroll, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed into the Evangelical Lutheran Church and graduated from Manning (Iowa) High School in 1964. He attended carpentry trade school in Minnesota before serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Manning American Legion. He was a carpenter for Rasmussen Lumber and Bob Hulsing Grain Bin Construction in Iowa. He moved to Salina, Kansas, in 1987 and worked for Morrison Grain, several construction contractors and as a truck driver for Saline County Road and Bridge Department. He loved to fish, repair lawn mowers, work in his garden and spend time with his grandchildren. He married Deanna Winther on June 29, 1968, at Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Dammann.

Survivors include his wife, Deanna of Salina; a daughter, Gaylene Versluys and husband Jim of Salina; two sons, Dwight Dammann and wife Brenda of Ava, Mo., and Darren Dammann and wife Madonna of McPherson; his mother, Malinda Dammann of Perry, Iowa; two sisters, Diane Cross and husband Larry of Waukee, Iowa, and Darlis Wambold and husband Rex of Van Meter, Iowa; a brother, Darwin Dammann and wife Charlie of Manilla, Iowa; and eight grandchildren, Makayla and Brett Versluys, Jordan Dammann, Elizabeth, Johnathan and Mathew Weir, Brian Versluys and Jimmy Versluys and wife Lori.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, the Rev. Charles Adams officiating.
Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
Memorials may be made to Daryl Dammann Family Fund.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
