Dale Lee, son of Virtus and Kathryn Grace (Kuhl) Vollstedt, was born October 22, 1937, at Manning General Hospital in Manning, Iowa. He was confirmed in April of 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Dale attended country school and graduated with the class of 1955 from Manning Community High School.

Following graduation, Dale farmed and served with the Iowa Army National Guard for seven years until his honorable discharge in 1962. Dale was united in marriage with Darlene Genzen on March 16, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church. Four children were born to this union. Dale and Darlene operated a dairy farm west of Manning until 1983. He continued to farm until they moved into Manning in 1990 when he began to suffer from polymyositis. Dale became disabled, however he was able to operate his scooter and enjoyed driving it around Manning to visit his many friends.

Dale was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, holding various offices through the years. During his years on the farm, he was also an active member of Farm Bureau. Dale and Darlene were faithful members of a card club with their friends for over 40 years. He was an avid reader and amateur historian for his family and the community. Dale loved to attend his grandchildren's many activities with Darlene.

After a brief stay at Manning Regional Healthcare Center, Dale died suddenly and unexpectedly early on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, due to complication of his chronic disease. He was 68 years, 7 months and 8 days of age.

Dale is preceded in death by his father in 1966.
