Born to Jeanne and Merle Saunders. A 1957 graduate from Manning High School.

He served in the Navy for 3 years, then married the love of his life, Beth Ann Eckholdt, on September 15, 1963, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning Iowa.

He worked and then owned Les Hayes Studio in Omaha until he retired.

He leaves behind 3 children, Marty (Diane) Saunders, Robin (Bob) Kincade, and Cristen (John) Hiffernan; 7 grandchildren, Nick, Jack, Dalton, Sam, Frank, Devon, and Holli; sister, Kay Houghton; and brothers, Carl and Bill Saunders.
