Donald Peter Rix, died peacefully at his home in Albuquerque on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, after a long illness. Don was born on August 24, 1930, in Manning, Iowa, son of Alfred John and Elsie D. (Schroeder) Rix.

After a tour of duty in Korea with the Air Force he was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he met and married Donna Standfier, his wife of 52 years.

In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his daughter, Donna Marie and husband, Stephen Smith, and his granddaughter, Jessica Smith, all of Albuquerque; sister, Delores Rix of Manning, Iowa; brother, Allen Rix and wife, Beverly, also of Manning; brother, Larry Rix and wife, Dorothy of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Don's life will be held at 2:00 Thursday, December 28, 2006, at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Boulevard Northeast.

Cremation has occurred; ashes will be placed at a later date in the Rose Scattering Garden, Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul, Northeast, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
