Requiem mass for Donald John Stangl, 38, of Jefferson was celebrated by the Rev. J.P. McGuire at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Church here.
Pallbearers were Marlin Bauer, Lyle Tunink, Ronald Lappe, Howard Tunink, Kenneth Lappe, and Donald Lappe. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manning, under direction of the Slininger Funeral Home, Jefferson.
Mr. Stangl died May 7, 1965, at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames.
He was born May 23, 1926, at Templeton, one of six children of William and Frances (Sibbel) Stangl. He was reared at Templeton, graduating from the Templeton High School in 1944. On September 16, 1944, he entered the United States Army, serving in the Philippines during World War II. Following his discharge on November 6, 1946, he worked in the retail food business.
His marriage to Alice Wagner took place at Manning on July 1, 1952. The family has lived at Fort Dodge, Carroll, and Perry before coming to Jefferson. Mr. Stangl was assistant manager of the Safeway Store here.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one infant brother. He is survived by his wife, three children, and four sisters.
