Donald Horbach Of Manning Home As Navy Discharges
Donald Horbach, son of Joe and Mildred (Mescher) Horbach, arrived home December 5, 1954, after being discharged from naval service at the San Diego Naval Center.
He has been with the 7th Fleet in Indo China. Don spent four years in the Navy.

Serves In Pacific
Donald R. Horbach, electrician's mate fireman, is serving aboard the landing ship dock USS Epping Forest in the Pacific, the Navy reports. Horbach, who entered the Navy in 1951, is the son of Joe and Mildred (Mescher) Horbach of Manning.

DONALD RAYMOND HORBACH

The Rite of Christian burial for Donald Raymond Horbach of Omaha, Nebraska, was held this morning, Monday, January 5, 1998, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning.

Mr. Horbach, 66, a native of Manning, died Thursday, January 1, 1998, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
The Rev. James McAlpin, officiated the service. Lector was Ray Thielen. Servers were Tim Hugeback and Matt Hugeback.
Casket bearers were David Muhlbauer, Joe Timperly, Duane Schleisman, Tom Wolff, Lynn Stein, and Lonnie Ferneding.
Emil Ewoldt American Legion Post No. 22, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3517, both of Manning, had military honors.
Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Manning.

A son of Joseph V. and Mildred (Mescher) Horbach, he was born August 13, 1931, at Manning and attended schools there, graduating in 1950.
He entered the Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged December 2, 1954.
He and Jean Rider of Omaha were married May 30, 1961, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning.
They resided in Omaha.
Mr. Horbach was employed at Offutt Air Force Base. He retired in 1989 due to health problems.
He was a member of St. John Vianny Catholic Church in Millard, Nebraska.

Survivors include his wife, Jean, of Omaha; two sons and their wives: Brian and Susan Horbach of Omaha and Joe and Tracy Horbach of Omaha; his mother, Mildred Horbach, of Manning; and a brother, Robert Horbach, and his wife, Arlene, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mr. Horbach was preceded in death by an infant son, Keith, and his parents.
