2005 information
Sgt. Calvin F. Stammer, a 1964 graduate of Manning High School, entered the Army in July, 1967, and received his basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia,
advanced infantry training at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and NCO schooling at Fort Benning, Georgia. He served one year in Vietnam with the 9th Division, 6th Battalion,
31st Infantry Brigade, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Sgt. Stammer received his discharge in June 1969. He is a member of the American
Legion and VFW Posts in Manning and a member of the VFW ceremonial drill team. He served as VFW Commander in 1975-1976 and 2003-2005.
