Carl Lee, US55375023, was inducted into the Army at Denison, Iowa, April 6, 1953. He trained at Fort Polk, Louisiana, with the 10th Signal Corps. Corporal Lee was discharged April 5, 1955.


Carl F. Lee was born in Scio, Ohio, to John B. and Amanda Stevens Lee.
Carl moved to the Denison area in 1947. He passed away November 2, 1996.
He volunteered for the armed services in April 1953 and served until his discharge.

On October 25, 1960, Carl married Judy Atkins of Manning where they made their home. He worked for American Protein the last 13 years of his life.

Carl and Judy have 6 children:
Thomas and his wife Cindy of Aberdeen, South Dakota
Timothy of Scottsdale, Arizona
Susan and her husband Terry Zeeman of Manilla, IA
Shari Beck of Blair, Nebraska
Sara and her husband Todd Fiedler of Remsen, Iowa
Sabrina and her husband Dave Neil of Manning.

They also have 12 grandchildren:
Mara and Mason Lee
Tara, Jamie and Bethany Zeeman
Joshua, Jacob and Joseph Beck
Elijah Betterton, Myriah, Amanda and Shelby Fieder


CARL FRANKLIN LEE

A funeral service for Carl Franklin Lee of Manning was held this morning, Monday, November 4, 1996, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Mr. Lee, 61, died of lung cancer Saturday, November 2, 1996, at Manning General Hospital.

Pastor Robert Riggert from Zion Lutheran Church of Manning, officiated the service.

Casket bearers were Jack Ramsey Jr., Rick Dammann, Darrell Wiese, Richard Sorenson, Kenny Eischeid, and Gene Gray. Honorary casket bearers will be Jim Wittrock, Harold Reinke, Linus Heithoff, Russell Spies, Tom Pelican, and Billie Smith.

Burial was in Manning Cemetery with military honors by Emil Ewoldt American Legion Post 22 of Manning.

He was born December 7, 1934, at Scio, Ohio, a son of John B. and Amanda (Stevens) Lee. In 1947, he moved to the Denison area and attended school there.

He volunteered for military service in 1953 and served with the Army. Following his discharge, Mr. Lee was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad.

He and Judith Atkins were married October 25, 1960, at Manning. The Lees settled in Manning, and Mr. Lee worked for American Protein there the last 13 years.

His health began to fail in November 1995 and four months later he was diagnosed with cancer. He entered the hospital Septembers 16.

Survivors include his wife, Judith, of Manning; two sons and their wives: Thomas Lee and his wife, Cindy, of Ralston, Nebraska, and Timothy Lee of La Vista, Nebraska; four daughters and their husbands: Susan and Terry Zeman of Manilla, Shari and Dave Beck of Blair, Nebraska, Sara Betterton and Todd Fiedler of Remsen and Sabrina at home; eight grandchildren: Mara, Tara, Jamie and Bethany Zeman, Joshua, Jacob, and Joseph Beck and Elijah Betterton; a brother, Lester Lee, and his wife, Lucy, of Denison; and a sister-in-law, Ramona Lee, of Sioux City.

Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Cornelius Auen; a brother, Ralph Lee, and four great-nieces and nephews.


Carl Lee is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
