Cory graduated from Manning High School in 1988 and went on to Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, for a year before joining the U.S.A.F.
He was stationed in Ramstein, Germany. After his time in the Air Force, Cory went back to school, graduating with a degree from University of Northern Iowa in Industrial Engineering.
