Burdette G. Schroeder, age 76, of Carroll, Iowa, died at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll on July 12, 2000, following a brief illness. Burdette had been a farmer and farmed by Manning and Guthrie Center. The Schroeders then moved to Carroll in 1972 where he worked for Badding Construction Company and was a Job Superintendent with them. He then worked as Custodian for First United Methodist Church in Carroll from 1989 until the spring of 2000. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his garden, wood working, and traveling. He was born on November 1, 1923, at Carroll, Iowa, and was the son of Albert and Alma (Peterson) Schroeder. He was married to Rose Beebe on June 9, 1944, at the Presbyterian Church in Manning with Pastor Raeside officiating. Burdette was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carroll. As a young boy he attended and graduated from Manning High School in 1941.
Surviving are his wife Rose of Carroll; a daughter Georgia Schwieso of Carroll; a daughter Janna Whalley and her husband Christopher of Forrest Hill, Maryland; a son Michael A. Schroeder and his wife Tamara of Carroll; a daughter Penny Niceswanger and her husband Kevin of Grand Forks, North Dakota; and a son Todd Schroeder of Carroll; 16 Grandchildren; and one brother Russell Schroeder and his wife Jean of Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.
