The Wieses were passengers in the Anderson's 1989 Pontiac Bonneville which was driven by Mrs. Anderson. They were eastbound on Iowa Highway 92 just before 11 p.m. when the 1992 Ford pickup, driven by Ronnie P. Isaacson, 40, of Red Oak, ran a stop sign and smashed into the right side of the car.

The Wieses were sitting on the passengers' side of the front and back seats and were the closest to the impact. They were dead at the scene.

According to the report of the investigating deputy sheriff, Isaacson said he thought he had one more hill to crest before coming to the intersection.
