UNITED STATES AIR FORCE (RETIRED)

Enlisted in the United States Navy in February 1951. Boot camp and Electricians Mate school at San Diego Naval Training Center.

Reported abroad the USS Lipan, ATF 85 (Sea Going Tug) in September 1951 at Pearl Harbor Naval Station. Traveled all over the western pacific until transfer to the USS Delta AR 9 (Fleet Repair Ship) in September 1952 operating in the Japan/Korea area. Returned to San Diego in February 1953. Returned to the Japan/Korea theater in September 1953. Delta went to Subic Bay P.I. and Southeast Asia in May 1954 as part of the operation moving refugees from Hanoi to Saigon when the French were defeated and Vietnam was partitioned. Returned to San Diego in July 1954. Discharged from the Navy in January 1955, immediately re-enlisted as an instructor at San Diego Naval Training Center. Discharged as an Electricians Mate First Class in December 1956.

Enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant upon release from the Navy in December 1956 with duty station at Mather AFB Sacramento Ca. Appointed to Officer Candidate School in January 1958. Graduated from OCS in June 1958 and commissioned a Second Lt.. Assigned to Walker AFB, Roswell New Mexico as a Communications Officer. Transferred to Keesler AFB Mississippi in June 1960 to attend the one-year Electronic Maintenance Officers Course. After completion of course was retained at Keesler as an instructor in the same course. In June 1962 was sent to the IBM factory for 5 months at Kingston New York for Computer Maintenance Training. At completion returned to Keesler and took part in the development and served as an instructor for the Air Force Computer Maintenance Officers Course.

Transferred to Truax AFB, Madison WI. in January 1965 as Computer Maintenance Officer for the 20th Air Force and Chicago Air Defense Sector. Transferred to exchange duty in July 66 with the Royal Canadian Air Force Air Defense Command Headquarters, North Bay Ontario with duty as Staff Computer Officer.

Transferred to Korat RTAFB, Korat Thailand in September 1968 as Chief of Maintenance 1998th Communications Squadron responsible for all communications and flight facilities at Korat. Promoted to Major at Korat. Returned to Keesler AFB Mississippi September 1969 to attend the Air Force Staff Communications School.

April 1970 transferred to HQ Defense Communications Agency National Military Command System Technical Support Group Washington DC. Principal duty was communications engineering support for the National Emergency Airborne Command Post (NEACP) Advanced Airborne Command Post (Boeing 747 Aircraft) later called the E-4. During this tour completed a BS in Business Administration and MS in Computer Sciences at George Washington University. Retired as a Major, May 1976.

In October 1976 went to work for Electrospace Systems Inc., a small Dallas TX. based company, Washington Systems Engineering Office. Continued to work on the development of the E-4 communications/computer systems for the Defense Communications Agency and US Air Force. This included Flight status with the USAF E-4 Test and Evaluation Team. Also participated in the development and conduct of the POLO HAT worldwide airborne command post exercises for the Joint Staff. Last project was communications engineering support and test and evaluation on the new Air Force One aircraft.

Retired May 1991 as Department Head of Electrospace Washington Systems Engineering Office which since 1987 a subsidiary of Chrysler Corporation.
