Allen Muhlbauer

Allen's father, William, served during WWII and is featured in that section.

Allen has a number of slides for me to scan so when I get finished scanning other Veteran collections I'll try to grab what Allen has.



Allen Muhlbauer, son of William and Iola Muhlbauer, was born January 26, 1950. He attended school at Manning Community and graduated in 1968, and then attended Iowa Central Community College.
Allen joined the Army in April of 1970. He went to Fort Lewis, Washington, for basic training and Advanced Infantry Training. In September of 1970 he began his tour of Vietnam, serving with the 4th Battalion, 30th Infantry, 5th U.S. Army.

While in the service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in December of 1971 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
He is a member of the American Legion Post in Arcadia and the V.F.W. in Manning, serving on the Ceremonial Drill Team.
Allen began farming after his discharge. In 1993, he started working for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier for a number of years.
