ALBERT R. "BUTCH" JANSEN

Albert R. "Butch" Jansen, 52, of Cherokee died Wednesday, September 15, 1999, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a long illness.

Funeral service for Mr. Jansen, who was a native of Manning, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 1999, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee with the, Rev. Timothy Schott presiding.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a scripture service at 7:30 Friday night at the funeral home.

Born April 3, 1947, at Manning, he was a son of LeRoy and Helen (Delany) Jansen. He was educated in Manning, graduating from high school there in 1965.

Mr. Jansen then enlisted in the Air Force and served in England, Italy and Turkey. He returned home and was a mechanic at the Chevrolet garage in Manning and later at Smouse Repair in Coon Rapids.

Mr. Jansen worked for Holzhauer Motor Company in Cherokee the last 18 years.

He and "Cooky" Waggoner were married August 8, 1992, at Cherokee.

Survivors include a son, Travis Jansen, and his wife, Bridgette, of Carroll; a daughter, Nichole Bolger, and her husband, Jay, of Oregon City, Oregon; two stepdaughters: Amy Waggoner of Madison, Wisconsin, and Kari Sorgdrager and her husband, Anthony, of Cherokee; four grandchildren; a brother, Walter Kortman, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his father, LeRoy Jansen, of Carroll.

Mr. Jansen was preceded in death by his mother.
